Family-owned pavement marking business Safety Marking Inc. celebrates women on their team in honor of Women’s History Month

Safety Marking Inc., based out of Bridgeport, is a family-owned business that is proud of the dedicated women on its team. Founded in 1973 by the current President, Mark Kelly, Safety Marking Inc. started its journey by providing pavement marking services in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Five decades later, after consistent dedication to service and innovation, the pacesetting leader in the pavement marking industry is nationally respected and has expanded with offices in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York. Mr. Kelly contributes the business’ success to the company’s investment in premium technology, continuous development, innovation, philanthropic involvement, and retaining employees.

Safety Marking Inc. has always been fortunate to employ women.  Currently, fifteen women work for the company. In honor of Women’s History Month this March, the pavement marking company wants to celebrate and recognize the excellent work these women do within the organization, and their contributions to the larger construction industry.

Elena Vilarinho, Accounts Receivable Administrator, has been with Safety Marking Inc. since 2003. Of the fifteen women at Safety Marking, Elena has been with the company the longest.  Elena serves as a primary link to the customer base.  Caroline Sumner, Executive Administrator for Contracts, came aboard the Safety Marking team in 2008.  Caroline reviews and ensures compliance with every contract.  Heather von Brauchitsch joined the team in 2010.  Heather verifies the certifications of all surface applications for each contract and supports all facets of Operations.  Voicing his appreciation for these women and their years of dedicated service to the company, Mark Kelly, Safety Marking’s President states:

“I want to personally acknowledge and thank Elena, Caroline, Heather, and all the very capable and hard-working women on our team for their input and constant team support. Without women, Safety Marking would not be what it is today.  Thank you, Kelly Lavoie, Kimberly Darbisi, Rebecca DelMonte, Dawn King, Karen Marino, Amy Darbisi, Madeline Bonilla, Kate Mucherino, Abigail Kelly, Averie Adams, Donna Valente and Kaitlin Reilly.”

Safety Marking Inc. encourages women to apply and grow with the company.  This year, the company is rolling out an Employee Spotlight Program where one employee a month is interviewed in the ‘get to know your colleague’ highlight.  In March, Safety Marking will turn the camera on their Service Writer to find out more about her. Safety Marking is an affirmative action-equal opportunity employer that provides equal opportunities to minorities, females, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.

At Safety Marking, the company and its team members embrace the core values of safety, accountability, communication, teamwork, integrity, commitment, and exceeding expectations. These core values are the foundation upon which the organization has built its hiring and recognition processes and its daily interactions with colleagues, clients, partners, and vendors. Safety Marking Inc. embraces practicing business exchanges in an honest, professional, and ethical manner.
