Safety Marking began as a small, family-owned striping business, playing a formative role in servicing various parking lots throughout the Fairfield County area.
Over the past five decades, Safety Marking, Inc. has redefined the marketplace by setting the industry standard with its products and services. We continuously test and refine our product-line in order to surpass our competitors. In this way, SMC has become a nationally respected leader in pavement markings.

1973
Safety Marking, Inc. is founded by President and Chief Operating Officer, Mark K. Kelly
1988
SMC launches a full-time highway and roadway marking operation.
1993
Safety Marking, Inc. celebrates 20th anniversary and begins the first Connecticut state prime job.
1994
Safety Marking, Inc. establishes new headquarters in Bridgeport, CT.
1995
SMC contracts first New York state prime job.
1996
SMC marks first Rhode Island state prime job.
1999
Safety marking, Inc. expands to Rhode Island and opens second office facility in Richmond.
2002
Long-term strategic planning leads Safety Marking, Inc. to complete initial Port Authority of New York/New Jersey prime jobs; servicing LaGuardia, JFK, Newark, and Teterboro Airports.
2005
Safety Marking, Inc. opens third office in Westbury, New York.
2012
Safety Marking, Inc. continues its tradition of being the industry leader by acquiring our first waterblasting truck for hydroblasting removal.
2015
Both satellite offices at 59 Stilson Road, Richmond, RI and 84 Sylvester Street, Westbury, NY were renovated by Safety Marking.
2017
SMC purchased our first MRL impingement epoxy truck and our 4th Hydroblaster, the SH Stripe Hog 8000.
2018
In June, SMC expands its Training Facilities by converting former offices into a classroom with attached demonstration bay.
2019
SMC begins planning for Online Learning, and in early 2020, Safety Marking Academy is launched.
2019
In order to answer the call to duty despite wet weather, SMC adds the Allied Technologies Turbine Jet Dyer to our family of road-ready tools, alongside our 3rd impingement epoxy truck.
2020
SMC continues to advance its technological fleet by adding a Hog Technologies Rumble truck, a Hog Dual Line Groover, a Limtech GPS-enabled layout truck, a dual-steering grinding truck, and a 3rd dual-color epoxy detail truck.
2021
SMC adds a custom-designed conveyor sweeper to the fleet along with the 4th impingement epoxy truck and an additional airport paint truck.
2022
SMC purchases its 7th Hog Technologies Waterblaster with Tusk attachment
2023
SMC continues to enhace its fleet with the addition of a 2nd Hog Dual Line Groover, and two additional Limtech GPS-enabled layout trucks.
2023
SMC partners with Highview Capital to finance future growth and development.
