New Gimbal-mounted cameras make the difference

Safety Marking, LLC Adds New Paint Truck to Fleet

Bridgeport, CT — 9.9.2024 — Safety Marking, LLC. recently took delivery of a new MRL Paint Truck.

Positive Employee Adoption
Employees are already utilizing the new technology. Kimo Hensley, a Foreman at SMC, currently uses the camera system on a grooving truck. “The industry is moving away from pointers and lasers. Cameras are easier and more accurate,” explains Bill Gertsch, Department Head for Grooving.

“We just have to get our drivers to come out of their comfort zone to use the new gimbal-mounted camera system,” states Jon Baker, SMC’s Director of Shop Services.

MRL Product
According to MRL Equipment Company (Billings, MT) MRL traffic paint application equipment excels in high-volume output capability, serviceability, and ease of operation. The new truck includes a color video guidance system with flat screen monitor and video crosshair generator. It also features material usage monitoring systems.

Practice Makes Perfect
“I like the cab. Everything is within reach and put in the right place,” says SMC Foreman and Diesel Mechanic, Chris Steffens. “If I were to drive the truck, I would 100% try and learn those cameras. I can see using a mill job as a great place to practice.”
